The Canadian Dental Association (CDA) is the national voice for current events and issues in dentistry. So, Van De Vooren Inc. re-envisioned its 79-year-old print publication to speak to today’s Canadian dentists through a new name and brand. We helped introduce this fresh publication to the great white north with the creative design and production of its launch issue.

Created in 1935, the Canadian Dental Association’s bilingual publication has been the source of industry information for Canadian dentists from coast to coast.

We delved into discovering where the publication had been and where it could go, through industry research, feedback interviews, and face-to-face discussions. A new style of content was created by the CDA to reflect the dentists who keep Canada’s smiles bright. The new magazine would support this reflection of dental professionals, and provide essential information about their concerns, their accomplishments, and their stories.

Armed with this knowledge, Van De Vooren worked with the CDA to find the name and visual identity for the magazine’s new direction. A “kit of parts” was created to support the brand, stock full of elements such as custom icons, templates, bilingual wordmarks, and typography styles.

Van De Vooren help bring the fresh brand to something you could touch, with the visual creative direction and design production of CDA essential’s launch issue. A training session was also provided to CDA’s internal design staff on the new brand templates and magazine source files.
